I'd like everyone to read an entire chapter of Proverbs each day. Thanks and may He bless the reading to your life.

This is a series focused on Proverbs one at a time from one chapter a day coinciding with the day of the month as they were intended to be read.

26/2-If I slap you. What'll happen? Maybe depends on provocation. Hmm? Well, If I spit in the wind, guess what? I'm gonna get that stuff right back in my face. Go ahead, insult someone. One you don't know. It's going to come back right to where it came from. That's what Proverbs 26:2 in is saying. There's cause and effect. It says so. You sow raspberries, but wanted grapes. Sorry. You won't get potatoes either. His plan.

27/2-What's the upshot of Prov 27:2? Let me also get ahead of some who've read this. DO NOT ELICIT PRAISE FROM SOMONE! Reason being, that's all you're going to get in that regard from that person. Praise from other people needs to be entirely voluntary to be credible. You vaunting yourself, actually is the basis for people treating you with scorn and derision. They may smile and all that, yet when you're gone, thumbs down.

28/2-Who's causing the problems in your country? Is it limited to one person? 28:2 says no. Who are the princes? Is it only politicians? No. How about industrial leaders and lobbyists? Each one pushing a certain cultural and economic agenda. That's business, you say. Sure. Does it honor G-d? Follow the money. There's a flip side here. Call it plan A. Who's G-d's man. Once there was a Joseph, Daniel. Look at their story.

29/2-Authority. Be it at home, a neighborhood group, all the way to the top in any country. What counts? Their lives. There are those, even in my city, who say their private lives is of no concern. WRONG! No I don't want details, yet I want their life to be right in G-d's eyes. There are parallels in decision making. If what's going on in my heart is wrong, then, according to scripture my life will show that in externals.

30/2-So here is this fellow, who learned something from his father when we looked at verse 1. Evidently it must have been worth something or it wouldn't be in the Word. Yet, we have Agur here sharing with us. What does he say about himself? That he's brutish. Does that mean he beat up on his wife? He goes on to explain, in honest humility, that he's maybe a little ignorant. Based on what follows let all men be so brutish.

31/1 & 2-We'll cover the introduction and 2nd verse this time. They dovetail together. We have someone, Lemuel, relating what his mother shared with him. Remember that Proverbs is attributed to Solomon. A woman who in this chapter is teaching her child. STOP! She says WHAT, 2 times. The king has asked a question. Guess where I'm going with this. How old was he? Old enough to ask why? Maybe teens? All the other boys can, why.

1/2-Prov 1:2 Tells what this whole book is about. To know, here, means to be able to identify. ID, what? Wisdom and instruction. We judge what's wise, by what the results are. How do we develop a path to wisdom? By getting instruction. The Proverbs teach on a variety of subjects dealing with human existence. To know wisdom and instruction. We need both. We get them in this book that we need to be in daily. Persist in it.

2/2-This is a parallel to yesterday in ways. It's my profound hope that you're into these on a daily basis. We are to lean in the direction of getting wisdom. How do we do that? Find people who are wise. Who are they? Those who have understanding. Where do people get the understanding and wisdom? From reading all of G-d's Word. A bible professor taught me that scripture enlightens scripture. Find them who're in His Word.

3/2-It was told to us by Billy Graham that the Bible is our owners manual. Learning wisdom, getting understanding and instruction will result in the promise of this verse. 3 things are promised. Length of days. What's that? Enduarance. Strength for the battle of life. That results in the next promise. Life. Long life. Just celebrated with a 99 year-old. Happy as a clam and probably the recipient of the final word PEACE.

4/2-We are carrying forward from verse 1, a father is instructing his son in the wisdom of G-d. Found in G-d's word, he says, I give you good doctrine. Doctrine, a word used 55 times in the bible. In this context the word means a rule or principle. So what rules guide your life? What are they based on. This father, David, taught Solomon the Word of G-d as a rule of behavior and adjured him to not stray from this teaching.

5/2-Discreet. Are you discreet? Are you careful about what you say, do and where it's said or done. Discretion about speech. Would more people read and understood this verse. Little children are not discreet. That's why we watch what we say around them. You do watch what you say? Around them, right? Regardless of how old they are. This sheds light on the balance of the verse about keeping knowledge. One Doesn't tell all.
